Salman Khan didn't make it to Esha Deol's sangeet on Monday night - brother Sohail represented the Khans - but he did send bodyguard and confidante Shera in his place.
According to reports, Salman Khan had Shera oversee all arrangements at the sangeet and other functions . In addition, a group of 40 men from Salman's select security team were at the sangeet to ensure security.
The Khans are old friends of Hema Malini and Dharmendra. Salman's father, Salim Khan, scripted their screen romance in Sholay, the film that also marked the beginning of Hema and Dharmendra's real life love story.

A mehendi ceremony will be held today, a traditional temple wedding will take place on Friday morning, and a grand reception on Saturday.
