Chennai: Two days after his much-awaited comeback match was washed out due to persistent rain, the focus is back on Yuvraj Singh as he looks to resume his innings in international cricket with the second Twenty20 game between India and New Zealand on Tuesday.

The first T20 in Visakhapatnam was called off without a ball being bowled, leaving the thousands who had thronged the stadium to watch Yuvraj's much-anticipated return from a successful battle against a rare germ cell cancer, disappointed as rain had the final say.

Speaking to a private news channel, Ganguly said: "Obviously, I have interest in coaching but only time will tell what can happen in future. If the BCCI feels that I can be a good coach to the team, I will be ready. I feel I can create a difference in terms of the ability of the players, their form and their development. Going down the memory lane Yuvraj recalled the days when he was battling rare germ cell cancer. Yuvraj, who was the hero of India's 2011 World Cup win, said when he was diagnosed with cancer the only thought in his mind was that of "saving his life".

ICC's new technology to check illegal bowling

Bangalore, Aug 28: The ICC has entered the second phase of an agreement with a consortium of high profile Australian cricket, sports science and sports engineering institutions to develop a wearable technology to assess the legality of bowling actions in match and training conditions, an ICC media release said.

ICC is now working with experts to produce a process capable of measuring bowlers' actions in a match environment. Known as inertial sensors, they employ similar technology to that is used in iPads, mobile phones and car crash impact detection systems.

Townsville, Aug 26: An inspirational knock from captain Unmukt Chand, who scored an unbeaten century (111), helped India beat defending champions Australia to win the ICC U19 World Cup.

Kolkata, Aug 18: Former India skipper Sourav Ganguly on Friday said that the future of Indian cricket relies on Virat Kohli, while interacting with school children

at a promotional event in Kolkata.

Ganguly was pleased with the current generation's performance as he said India has a lot of talented youngsters, but they need time to prove their mettle at the international level.

"I think much of Indian cricket's future will rest on Virat Kohli now. I see a lot of talent in India, but they should be given time to settle down at the international level," he said.

Virat Kohli rises to second position in ODI rankings

Dubai: Virat Kohli achieved his career-best ranking as he gained one position to be at second spot in the latest ICC Player Rankings for ODI batsmen, which was released on Sunday.

Kohli, who entered the India-Sri Lanka five-match ODI series as the third-ranked batsman, climbed to no. 2 following his player-of-the-series performance, in which he scored 296 runs.

The former India Under-19 captain, who led his side to victory in the ICC U19 Cricket World Cup 2008 in Malaysia, also achieved a career-best rating of 866 after the fourth ODI, in which he scored 128 not out in India's six-wicket victory.

Kohli now trails South Africa's Hashim Amla by 13 ratings points and can potentially top the batting chart if the Proteas opener fails to perform in the five-ODI series against England, starting on August 24 in Cardiff.

Leeds, Aug 7: England cricketer Kevin Pietersen on Monday suggested that the third and final Test against South Africa could be his last Test, and refused to rule out Test retirement.

Having scored a magnificent century to mark his 21st Test ton, Pietersen was unstoppable especially against an attack that is considered to be the best in the world.

The South Africa-born cricketer, who was awarded the man of the match for his 149 and three wickets in the second Test that was drawn at Headingley, said the third Test against South Africa might be his last.

Sachin Tendulkar: Master of cricket, a failure in chess

Mumbai: He is one of the greatest batsmen in cricketing history having amassed more runs than anybody in Test and one-dayers, but Sachin Tendulkar on Friday confessed that he has been quite unsuccessful at the game of chess.

"Chess was very much played at our house. I played a lot of chess with my brother, but without much good result. I enjoyed playing," Tendulkar said at an event organised by All India Chess Federation for the Blind.

"Chess started in my family with my uncle. He also wrote a book on chess and was part of the Chess Federation," the ace batsman said.

He revealed that his 13-year old son initially preferred chess over cricket and also took classes for it.

Forbes highest earning cricketer list 2012

New Delhi: Mahendra Singh Dhoni topped the list of the world's highest earning cricketers compiled by Forbes magazine, followed by Sachin Tendulkar, as six Indians made it to the list's top-10.

With earnings of USD two crore and 65 lakh, Dhoni features at the top of the list, out of which USD two crore 30 lakh comes from the commercials, while the rest USD 35 lakh he earns from playing cricket.

Dhoni's USD two crore 30 lakh is also the highest among cricketers earned from commercials.

Sri Lanka maul India by 9 wickets to level series

Hambantota: With generous help from a shockingly sub-par India, Sri Lanka came storming back into the five-match One-Day International series with a nine-wicket win in the second game in Hambantota on Tuesday.

A batting display that was so far removed from Saturday’s commanding display completely negated any advantage India might have gained from MS Dhoni winning a second consecutive toss at the Mahinda Rajapaksa International Stadium.

Nice occasion to test the team, says Dhoni

Colombo, Jul 19: India captain MS Dhoni, on Wednesday, said that the tour of Sri Lanka is an opportunity to look at how the team has improved.

The Indian team landed in Sri Lanka on Wednesday and did not waste much time in Colombo and headed for training on the first day of the tour.

India will play five One Day Internationals and one Twenty20 International on this tour.

"It's the start of the season for us," Dhoni said after landing in Colombo.

Zardari's letter to Manmohan Singh: Pakistan President lauds move to revive India-Pakistan cricket ties:

Islamabad: President Asif Zardari has said that the revival of bilateral cricket ties with India will help improve people to people level contacts between the two countries. This he said in his letter addressed to the Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. The letter has been sent through Pakistan High Commission in India.

2002 NatWest Series win at Lord's by Sourav Ganguly

How time flies! It seems like it was only the other day that we defeated England in a sensational final of the NatWest Series in 2002. And to think now that it was a decade ago.

The NatWest triumph was definitely one of India's greatest victories in One-Day International cricket. To be very honest, when England put up a total in excess of 300, we knew that we had a real fight on our hands. In those days, to get 300 was quite an achievement, a rarity of sorts. To chase that down was, therefore, far from an everyday occurrence.
