Nokia Lumia 520, that was recently unveiled in India as the 'cheapest Windows Phone 8' mobile, is now available for purchase from Nokia's official website and other online as well as offline dealers for Rs. 10,499.

Nokia Lumia 620 with Windows Phone 8 available for pre-orders at Rs. 15,199

Nokia Lumia 620, Nokia's mid-range Windows Phone 8 device is now available online through Flipkart. The phone is available for pre-order and has been listed at Rs. 15,199 on the website, with second week of March, mentioned as the estimated time frame for the release of the phone. The online retailer is also offering a 16GB memory card with the phone. 

It's worth noting that Nokia had announced the Lumia 620 when it launched the Lumia 920 and 820 in India, in January. It had said that the Lumia 620 would ship in February but had not disclosed pricing information for the phone. So Nokia is late by more than a month in making the phone available in the Indian market.

With the Windows Phone 8 scheduled for October 29, the AT&T Nokia Lumia 920 and HTC 8XWindows smartphones have gone up for pre-orders with online US retailer Best BuyThe Vergereports.

The Lumia 920, which now appears to have been pulled down from the site, was earlier priced at $149.99 with the new activation and $599 for the unactivated model. The device was listed with four available colours of cyan, yellow, red, white and black.

Nokia reported another quarterly loss and dwindling cash reserves on Thursday, but results were better than expected ahead of next month's launch of new smartphones it hopes can win back market share from Apple and Samsung.
The company's third-quarter underlying loss before one-off items was 0.07 euros per share compared to a profit of 0.03 euros a year earlier. Analysts had forecast a loss of 0.11 euros in a Reuters poll.

Apple Inc will host an event on October 23 where it is expected to unveil a smaller iPad that will take on the less expensive devices offered by Amazon.com Inc and Google Inc, a source familiar with the matter said on Friday.

Wall Street analysts have predicted for months that Apple was planning a smaller, less costly version of its popular iPad to take on cheaper competing devices, a move that analysts say might hurt its margins, but prevent its rivals from dominating an increasingly important computing segment.

Download MS Office for iOS and Android to be released in March 2013

Sources close to Microsoft have hinted at the possibility of launching Microsoft Office softwarefor both iOS and Android powered devices. The report was confirmed by the company’s Product Manager Petr Bobek. He stated that Office 2013 will be released by March next year for iOS and Android platform.
This has been one of the long standing demands from Android and iOS users. They will now just have to wait a few more months to see MS office in their handheld devices. He also added that the company will be releasing native apps for its Windows 8 operating system also by March 2013.

Nokia's entry level Windows device Nokia Lumia 610 is all set to get a performance update. The company has made this announcement via its developer's blog. Nokia has also explicitly mentioned that this is not an update to Windows Phone 7.8.

The new update will be bringing in improved system performance, camera performance, and usability. As this is a global update, the company has not mentioned specific time or dates and has just mentioned "keep an eye out for a notification message on your Lumia 610".

Windows Phone 8 based HTC 8X Price Revealed in UK

With the launch of highly expected devices – Samsung Galaxy Note 2 and Apple iPhone 5 based on latest incarnations of the two rival platforms – Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS and iOS 6, the Windows Phone 8 is the only one which is left over.

Though handset manufacturers including Samsung, Nokia and HTC have already unveiled their products based on the upcoming Microsoft mobile platform, these handsets will be released only after the official debut of the OS, which slated to happen on October 29.

A few days back, UK pricing of the HTC’s new flagship smartphones based on Windows Phone 8 – 8X and 8S were revealed as the two handsets were available on pre-order on the Expansys website for £399 (approx. Rs 34,500) and £224(approx. Rs 19,500) respectively.

As per a recent GSMArena report, an anonymous source at Three, UK’s fastest growing mobile network has revealed that the device will be offered on a range of contracts including ‘Essential Internet’ options and the network’s unlimited data plan – ‘One Plan’ with prices starting from £29 (approx. Rs 2,400) on a £30 (approx. Rs 2,500) per month for a two year deal.

As far as the specifications are concerned, 8X includes a 4.3-inch Super LCD 2 display with 1280 x 720 pixel resolution, 1.5GHz dual core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4, 8MP rear camera, 2.1MP front camera, 16GB internal memory, 512MB RAM, microSD card slot for memory expansion up to 32GB, 1,800 mAh Li-Po battery, Beats Audio integration, NFC, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi features.

Talking about the release dates, numerous reports from various sources suggest that the handset will be available by the second week of November

According to a report in WP Central, a source known to them has confirmed the existence of this smartphone. The details about specs, launch schedule are still a mystery, but the China Times report had claimed that it will be released in Q1, 2013.

Price cuts helped Japan's Sony Corp. become the No. 4 smartphone maker in key European markets in July-September, overtaking Nokia and BlackBerry maker Research In Motion, market research firm Kantar said on Monday.
Sony still trailed Samsung Electronics, Apple and HTC in the five largest European markets Kantar tracks in the 12 weeks to early September.

"Sony has dropped prices a lot over the last six months," said Kantar analyst Dominic Sunnebo, noting that the average retail price of a Sony smartphone is less than half that of market leader Samsung Electronics.
