Nokia's entry level Windows device Nokia Lumia 610 is all set to get a performance update. The company has made this announcement via its developer's blog. Nokia has also explicitly mentioned that this is not an update to Windows Phone 7.8.

The new update will be bringing in improved system performance, camera performance, and usability. As this is a global update, the company has not mentioned specific time or dates and has just mentioned "keep an eye out for a notification message on your Lumia 610".

This update will not be available over-the-air, which means that the users of Lumia 610 will have to install it using the Microsoft Zune software on their PC.

Nokia Lumia 610 has a 3.7-inch LCD screen with a WVGA resolution translating into a pixel density of 252ppi (480x800 pixels) and is priced at Rs. 12,999. Read our review of Nokia Lumia 610 here

If you have purchased this smartphone recently, then chances are it may well be running on updated software.

In an event in September, Nokia showcased its new range of Lumia smartphones based on the Windows Phone 8 - Nokia Lumia 920 and Nokia Lumia 820, which are expected to be launched in global markets later this month. Nokia users were hoping that the Finnish company might be rolling out Windows Phone 7.8 for their devices that are currently running on Windows Phone 7.5. However, as of now, Nokia has given no guidelines as to when that might happen.
