Many wonder how to drive safely during the monsoons and Drivespark is happy to provide you some safety tips that will let you enjoy the monsoons safely.
Here are some tips that will help you prepare for the monsoon. Preparation is always better than being caught unawares. Preparing your vehicle for the monsoons is more than half the problem solved. Follow the below care care tips for the monsoon.
a. Thoroughly check the condition of the car. Have a look at the tyres, brakes, electrical equipment and wipers. Replace any part that is faulty.

b. Ensure the car's tyres are not bald and have sufficient tread. Deep tread provide grip to your vehicle. Also ensure your tyres are not over inflated. In fact you can reduce the amount of air in the tyres to a slightly lower level than normal.
c. Under inflated tyres have more surface area and hence will deliver more grip. Roads tend to be slippery particularly during the first few rains and you will need such tyres.
d. Ensure all your headlights, parking lights and brake lights are functioning properly. Replace bulbs that are not working. All lights are essential as visibility is low during monsoon rains.
e. Have a look at the car's foot pedals and replace worn out rubber covers. Pedals tend to slip if you are driving with wet footwear.
f. Check if the drain hole plug of your car is intact. This plug will prevent the flow of rain water entering the passenger compartment from below the car.
g. Check if all fluids such as lubricants and brake fluids are at optimum level.
h. Get a full service done before the onset of monsoons so that you are not stranded in the middle of nowhere and it rains.
