Samsung has been in the rumor mill since early 2012 for its Galaxy S3 smartphone and Galaxy Note 2 phablet and now the South Korean smarthpone giant is the center of discussion in the tech gossip world for the mini variant of Galaxy S3 – the flagship smartphone released by the vendor in May.
When it comes to the screen size of the smartphones, there are different sets of users with various preferences. For some consumers, a bigger display is the main attraction and the sweet spot will be in the range of 4.1 to 4.9 inches. However, there are consumers who still prefer the smaller screen sizes of 4 inches.

Samsung has already sent out invites to the tech media world for a special press event on October 11 in Germany. The invitations has the tag line “something small will be really big” hinting that the company will unveil Galaxy S3 Mini at this event.
Earlier reports suggest Galaxy S3 Mini to have a 4 inch display with 800 x 480 pixel resolution, dual core 1GHz processor, 5MP rear camera and Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS out of the box. Galaxy S3 Mini is likely to be priced at £200 (approx. Rs 18,000).
Analysts assume that a smaller Samsung Galaxy S3 could certainly put Samsung in an even better position to compete with the Apple iPhone 5, which also sports a 4 inch display.
As far as iPhone 5 features are concerned, the sixth generation Apple’s smartphone based on iOS 6 platform has a 4 inch display with a resolution of 1136 x 640 pixels, a new Apple A6 chipset, 1GB RAM, 16GB/32GB/64GB internal memory, 8MP rear camera with iSight technology and 1.2MP front camera.
