Samsung, Apple, Nokia, BlackBerry, Sony and other brands
have developed smartphones that feature powerful mobile OS such as iOS, Nokia’sSymbian, Android, etc. These smartphones allow users to have access
to the internet, snap pictures, stream videos, listen to music and play games.
The battery life has always been a matter of concern for users, manufacturers
and developers given the wide range of multi-functionality and capabilities of
a mobile device.
Here are some tips to help you conserve your smartphone’s battery:
1. Turn Off The
Vibrations
Vibrations are helpful to be notified about messages or
incoming calls when you are in the meetings or theatre. You can set your phone
in the ringtone mode in the places where it doesn’t matter to save some battery
life.
2. Reduce the
Brightness
The power consumption of your device can be drastically
lowered by dimming the screen. The brighter the screen, the more battery it
consumes as we all need to activate the screen whenever we use our device. Set
the smartphone to Auto Brightness mode to conserve the battery life.
3. Shorten Screen
Timeout
If you wish your battery to last longer, then shortening the
screen timeout is one of the options. This determines for how long the screen
remains lit once you have done interacting with it. Setting short time duration
for the screen timeout ensures the power is not wasted by the phone.
4. Switch Off When
Inactive
It is true that the phone consumes more power when turning
off rather than unlocking the phone. However, you can save considerable amounts
of power by tuning off your device whenever you are not going to use for long
period of time.
6. Close Unnecessary
Apps
Most of us don’t bother to close the opened app and jump to
another app. This multi-tasking capability is one of the greatest features of
smartphones, however it is also the major cause for reducing the battery life
quickly.
7. Disable GPS
The GPS system uses up more battery juice than others. If
left running in background, these apps may continue to receive and send
signals. To do that it takes lots of your battery. So, close the GPS systems
whenever you don’t need them.
8. No 3G/4G, Wi-Fi,
Bluetooth When Not in Use
Whenever your device searches for Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and other
signals energy is consumed. If the reception is not so good, the phone
continues to search again. These repetitive searches will easily lower the
level of battery.
9. Minimize
Notifications
We often get notifications on our smartphones, be it updates
on add-ons for apps, high scores from games, emails, latest news, etc. But
sometimes it is annoying to receive the notifications that are not very
important. So you can manage the notification settings to enable only those
notifications that are important for you. This will also save some power.
10. Maintain Cool
Temperature
Smarphones tend to use battery faster when it is warm. So,
don’t keep your smartphone in any place that is hot or under direct sunlight.
