One of the hot launches of the year, German luxury carmaker Audi has brought in the sporty Q3 crossover at a competitive price tag of Rs 26.21 lakhs (ex-showroom Maharashtra). The Q3 which was showcased at the 2012 Delhi Auto Expo has been made available in two trims.
The Audi Q3, for which only 500 bookings have been allotted, will be sold through Audi 19 showrooms across the country. Audi has understood the market conditions and only diesel variants of the Q3 are on offer. While it is the base variant that costs Rs 26,21,000, the filly loaded high-end variant is priced at Rs 31,49,000.The Audi Q3 comes with a 2.0 TDI engine that is found on a range of Audi models such as the A4, A6 sedans and Q5 crossover. The engine which produces peak power of 177 Bhp and a peak torque of 350 Nm is mated to a 7 speed dual clutch DSG automatic gearbox. Audi has also fitted the Q3 with the company's legendary Quattro all wheel drive system.
The Audi Q3 will take head on with the BMW X1 crossover and the Range Rover Evoque. Interestingly, Audi has priced the Q3 very competitively against the X1 with the Q3 having the additional advantage of the all wheel drive system.
With the launch of the Audi Q3, the company would be looking to grab the first position in luxury car sales which BMW enjoys currently. The company had already toppled another German luxury carmaker Mercedes Benz to the third position recently. Audi has also been launching more products with the S4 sports being launched a few days back.
