Unknown | 6:35 PM | | |
LG launched its flagship smartphone LG Optimus G Pro globally about 5 months ago. But, now it has found its new destination. Recently, LG introduced this massive phablet into Indian market. According to the news and reviews, LG Optimus G was pretty famous and this time the next version has come again to rock the market. For those of you are thinking, it might be just a upgrade, you’re thinking wrong.

LG has changed a lot in its design, specs and display especially. With updated hardware comes update software bundle too. There’re many smartphones in the market from different manufacturers who are featuring 5.5-inch display but only LG Optimus G Pro has plugged HD display into its touch screen. Let’s find out more details and surprises that are awaiting us in this review.

Design & Display

As the days are passing by, manufacturers are moving more into the phablet designs which are quite handy for people who loves to handle massive gadgets but it feels rather problematic for portable users. With its 5.5-inch massive display, LG Optimus G Pro features a nice HD display weighing just around 172 grams. It has a True Full HD IPS Plus LCD Capacitive touch screen with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels. The pixel density is around 401 ppi and it gives a nice viewing angle even in sunlight. The edges of this smartphone are round shaped. It comes with a Home button and two capacitive buttons just like Galaxy Note 2 or S4. But, the capacitive touch buttons are rather small which bothered us a lot during the tests that we made with it.

Technical Specification
Powered by Qualcomm APQ8064T Snapdragon 600 Quad-Core 1.7 GHz Krait 300 processor and Adreno 320 GPU Unit; multitasking just got into a whole new level of anxiety. HD games and other applications which need better combination of CPU and GPU found out its pure home here in LG Optimus G Pro. It also has 2 GB RAM which makes it more capable of handling anything.

All of the major sensors like Accelerometer, Gyro, Proximity, Compass and other sensors are supported by this smartphone. It’s run by Android’s latest OS Jelly Bean v4.1.2. This device makes it possible to run all the apps of Google PlayStore. Several tweaks have been put into this phone to make it more user-friendly and give the capability to lots of other features.

The phone doesn’t feature FM radio which is a bit disadvantage for the radio lovers. Call signal on cellular networks were wonderful even in areas where it’s pretty much hard to reach out.

Camera & Video

LG has been pretty consistent with their cameras and this time they’ve put 13MP rear camera unit into LG Optimus G Pro with features like LED Flash, Autofocus, Face-detection and Image Stabilization, HDR, Panorama etc.
The camera app is from LG and it has some similarities from its predecessor. There’re lots of settings that you can customize before you play with taking the pictures. You can also change the way to deal with options by accessing Edit Settings menu.
It can record 1080p videos and supports dual-video recording as well. For video calling supports and Skype, it features a secondary camera with its 2.1MP which can also take 1080p videos.

Battery Support
With its massive 3140mAh battery, we tested it to last it a full day with moderate usage, though we had to switch off Wi-Fi and brightness to a low-level. It supports NFC, Bluetooth and other connectivity options that we deal with.
It comes with a price of Rs. 29,500 which is pretty much for the Indian Market but if you want to buy LG Optimus G Pro, consider its camera and high price.
