Ever fancied a bi-cycle that would match the speed of a bike? Luxury carmaker Audi has developed an e-bike that would speed you up to 80 kmph with just the press of a button.
The new Audi e-bike is just like a Formula 1 car built on motor racing design principles with every possible gadget that you would ever need. The e-bike is powered by an electric motor capable of taking it to a top speed of 80 kmph.
According to reports, the Audi e-bike will have five driving modes with pedalling supported by the motor, the electric motor alone, the high power mode apart from two other modes. The e-bike will speed according to the pedalling of the cyclist in the “pure mode”.
While the Audi e-bike will get a speed of 50 mph in "Pedelec” mode aided by the electric motor, the bike will solely run on the electric motor and get a top speed of 31 mph if you choose the "eGrip" mode. The forward momentum is controlled through a grip shift and the power of the e-bike can be configured using the touchscreen computer on it.
The cyclist can also hook up to the computer using a smartphone. One of the designers of the e-bike, Hendrik Schaefers said: "When developing the Audi e-bike Worthersee we drew on motor racing design principles for inspiration. The e-bike appears incredibly precise, highly emotional and strictly functional. Indeed, the design effort focused on its function as a sports machine. All design elements are thus firmly aligned to the technical features."
