Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) has rolled out the mass-market Dream Yuga 110cc motorcycle at a price tag of Rs 44,642 (ex-showroom Delhi). Honda India also revealed that it will appoint Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar as the brand ambassador of the company.
HMSI President and CEO Keita Muramatsu said: "Honda retained the brand Dream as part of a global strategy that was first launched in 1949. This new bike is very economical with better mileage."
By launching the Dream Yuga, Honda eyes to capture the market share at the entry-level segment which accounts for a lion’s share. Currently, Honda's erstwhile partner two-thirds of the entry-level market.
The Dream Yuga's 110cc single-cylinder engine that produces 9 BHP @ 7500 RPM is mated to a four-speed gearbox. Honda claims a remarkable mileage of over 70 kmpl for the economy bike.
Meanwhile, it would be interesting to watch the competition at the entry, mid level segment in the coming months with three bikes being launched in May itself. Earlier, Suzuki had launched the Hayate 110 cc bike and Bajaj launched the new Discover 125cc ST.
