Indian
major tablet vendors such as Samsung, Nokia, RIM, Micromax, Karbonn and
Lava are unveiling more and more killer tablets to enhance their
portfolio of products, models and services in order to stay relevant and
profitable in the long run in the cut-throat market
competition. Specially, all these manufacturers are coming out with
wallet friendly devices to directly lure the mass consumer-base of the
nation.
Consequently,
two tablets have been recently added by the homegrown manufacturers in
this growing list – Micromax Funbook Pro and Karbonn Smart Tab 2.
Both
the tablets are equipped with impressive specifications and are priced
competitively to survive in the budget conscious Indian market. Hence, Xdeem has come up with a comparison of the two tablets to help the users decide on which one to buy.
Display & Build: Micromax Funbook Pro fares well in the segment with a 10.1 inch display
1024 x 600 pixel resolution as compared to the 7 inch capacitive
touchscreen display of the Smart Tab 2 with 480 x 800 pixel resolution.
Coming
to the build of these tablets, the Funbook Pro looks too glossy whereas
the Smart Tab 2 has a broad screen bezel around the display.
Operating System: In
this segment, both the tablets acquire equal weightage being flavored
with Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system. However, the
Smart Tab 2 is upgradeable to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS.
Processor: Funbook Pro is equipped with a 1.2 GHz Cortex A8 processor while the Smart Tab 2 is equipped with a 1.2 GHz Xburst processor.
Camera: Funbook
Pro has a VGA front camera while the Smart Tab 2 has a 2MP front
camera. However, both the tablets lack a main camera with a larger
resolution.
Storage: Funbook
Pro has 8GB flash memory along with 1GB RAM whereas Smart Tab 2 has 4
GB internal memory and 512 MB RAM. However, both the rivals have a micro
SD card slot, which supports expandable memory of up to 32GB.
Connectivity: Funbook
Pro is a Wi-Fi only tablet, which lacks Bluetooth connectivity but it
supports 3G through dongles whereas Smart Tab 2 is packed with
connectivity features like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and 3G through dongle.
Battery: Micromax Funbook Pro is powered by a 5600 mAh Li-ion battery while Smart Tab 2 is powered by a 3700 mAh Li-ion battery.
Price: When it comes to the price tags, Funbook Pro is priced at Rs 9,999 while the Karbonn Smart Tab 2 is priced at Rs 6,999.
Verdict
Though
both the Funbook Pro and Karbonn Smart Tab 2 have similar hardware and
operating system, still, they are way too different when it comes to
performance and software features.
However,
Funbook Pro is the successor of the educational tablet, Micromax
Funbook, which was launched in April and it is loaded with education
related content. At the same time, the Karbonn Smart Tab 2 is expecting
its Jelly Bean update soon and priced relatively lower than the Funbook
Pro. So in the end, the decision is entirely yours and it depends on
your requirements. However, the suggestion would be more bended towards
Micromax FunBook Pro.
