The cellphone has been reformed to a gadget which has crossed the boundaries of just a phone. It turns into your music player, a mini computer on requirement, capture memorable moments and can make video clips, in spare time it’s a portable game device, it gives access to whole world through internet, can be your alarm clock at need, and the list goes on and on. To support all such roles this mini genie (smartphone)comes with powerful operating systems like Google’s Android, Nokia’s Symbian and now Windows OS,  Apple iOS etc.

Considering the diverse range of functionalities, BATTERY is a big concern for the developers and manufacturers to facilitate the users. Typically a smartphone’s battery lasts for one or max two days and then demands re-charge. Till further hardware development we need to take steps that can conserve energy of our smartphone.

The BATTERY saving  smart tips for bestsmartphone on the market are:

11.  Switch off Vibration
Turning your cell-phone on Silent mode at meetings, classrooms, theatres, etcis quite helpful for alerting you for incoming call, sms or e-mail.
Fact is; Vibration utilizes more energy than ringtone. It’s easy to vibrate a tiny speaker in comparison to vibrate a handset. If possible then Disable Vibration” or at least lessen the magnitude of vibration.

  2. Adjust Screen Brightness
If you want a drastic change, dim the screen. Setting the cellphone on Auto Brightness will adjust the brightness to its optimal level for reading while conserving energy; otherwise turn to dimmest level to extent that you are able to read without making your eyes strain.

  3. Shorten Screen Timeout
For enhancing the battery life, consider the option of shortening the screen timeout. This will impact the duration of letting your screen lit after you finish interacting with it.
Therefore, always lock down the handset when it’s not in use.

44.  Switching Off When Inactive
Its reality, turning ON your phone consumes more energy than unlocking it; however, switching it off for a couple of hours can save more power than leaving it on sleep or inactive mode.
If you have no intentions of using your cellphone for long duration like in meeting, attending class or you are going to sleep, it is advisable to SWITCH it OFF. Your small action can make bigimpact on the life of battery.

  5. Charge Battery Appropriately
Experts recommend do not charge your battery to full and never run it out empty. It would wise to go about from 40% to 80%, instead of making it to 100%. There are two kinds of batteries,
·         Litium-ion (Li-Ion),
·         Nickel-based batteries: Nickel-Metal Hydride (NiMH) & Nickel-Cadmium (NiCd).
NiCd battery can be recharged more often as compared to NiMH battery, in case when they are almost out of power. Do not recharge them when there is reasonable energy left.
Although, Li-Ion battery has the longest life cycle but they do demand to be re-charged more often even when battery is not fully exhausted for sustaining its original power.

  6. Close Unnecessary Apps
There are many apps that are running even when your cellphone is switched off. Close down them and if you are unaware which off the apps are running then restart your handset, it will force out every unnecessary app to close.
Closing the door of your room does not mean you have switched off lights, similarly before switching off the smartphone, do not forget to close down unnecessary apps.

  7.   Use an App to last longer
Several helpful apps are available which have the capability of managing multitasking of smartphone to conserve energy without putting the usage at risk.
Advanced Task Killer is a good one that kills down the apps that are not being used.
Green Power is excellent in usage. When you switch off the screen this app compels your data connection to shut down and facilitate you in setting timer e.g. after 10miutes check e-mails, so energy is saved.

  8. Switch Screensavers
Say “NO” to Animated Screensavers. You will feel the difference if you switch on to a black or dark screen background so that it does not consume as much electricity when you are in the menus.

  9. Disable GPS
The GPS utilizing apps that track location consumes more energy. For determining the exact location, signals have to be transmitted to and from satellite which is essential for few apps to function, e.g. map-based apps like Google Maps or to check-in on Facebook.
For no good reason you let such apps to run in background will eat major chunk of your battery. To avoid such undesired loss of battery, ensure these particular apps are closed properly. The other way round is to disable such apps.

  10. Switch of Wi-Fi, 3G/4G use
Battery’s energy getsconsumed up when the smartphone has to search for signals ofWiFi, 3G/4G or Bluetooth etc and it almost swallowed up when the reception is weak. When you don’t want to have any connectivity then turn it off or the easy way is to switch to “Airplane Mode”.
Moreover, when you need a good reception place your smartphone in high connectivity zone. This will save the battery from draining out as it does not have to seek signals.

111.   Minimize Notifications
We receive notifications (news, emails, game scores, add-ons for apps etc.) on our smartphone while we are connected to internet. Each notification is a power sucker and disturbing too to receive the ones which are not important.
Manage your settings and disable needless notifications to save battery.

The battery of smartphone runs quite quickly when they are warmer. Do not forget your cellphone at a place where sunlight is directly exposed and never place it at a hot place.
