Mobile gaming has, without a doubt, come a long way in a short
space of time. Whether it can continue to develop at that pace is a different
question! This fairly new industry will need to continue to improve to even
come close to killing off consoles. Gaming consoles have improved drastically
over the years and with the graphics making it feel ever more lifelike, the
mobile industry has to really pick up the pace!
The gaming world is massive industry. People can play at home,
on their mobiles or on their computer by visiting free gaming sites such as http://www.free-games.net/.
The mobile gaming does not necessarily have to compete with consoles and
internet sites as a gamer will more than likely have access to both and use
both! Ultimately, the restrictions of smartphone hardware will, like with all
human endeavors, push the creative boundaries of the human imagination.
Even more so within the last few years, it has become
increasingly difficult for the mobile world to compete with the other sectors
of the industry. I’m a huge fan of mobile games because it allows me to play on
the move, but even I know that hardcore gamers don’t waste their time on them;
they play console or PC games. And there’s a good reason for that
as it offers so much more! In almost every area other than the casual gaming
convenience offered by the portability of a mobile device, consoles still win. Consoles
win on emotion and experience, and the overall quality and variety of gameplay.
Different gaming experiences appeal to different audiences in different
situations. Rather than it being a competition between the two, I feel that
it’s more of a compromise to use whilst out and about.
Display size is the single biggest factor in why mobiles can
never deliver the same emotional attachment that console games can. This alone
is why I can’t see the mobile gaming ever taking over.
Mobile gaming will improve; of that, there should be no doubt!
Hardware improves year on year and it never fails to amaze me at how much they
come on. Think about those devices from five years ago. I personally remember
being amazed by the Nokia 3310, and I couldn’t believe how good
the game Snake was! If you compare that now to the games on the iPhone, you
will see just how far the mobile gaming world can go. The possibilities are
endless!
Right now, the consoles probably aren’t going anywhere.
Nintendo has their Wii, Sony will soon have their PS4, and Microsoft
will have Xbox One within a matter of weeks. They’ll have dumb features and be
frustrating and wrong-headed in so many ways, but we will be able to play games
that paint our field of view, surround us in sound, and immerse us in gigabyte
upon gigabyte of gameplay. They’ll own our living rooms, even as they remain
bound within those walls.
I
hope you will join me in welcoming the technological breakthroughs that are
sure to come.
