With its early release last Saturday (October 26) alongside
Microsoft Windows 8, Xbox SmartGlass has been nothing short of amazing.
Microsoft now lets you control your Xbox with the release of
SmartGlass for Android phones. With simple touches and swipes, you can use your
phone to fully navigate your Xbox 360, type with full keyboard and zooming
functions, browse the internet with ease, send messages to your friends, and
even control how you play your music and videos.
Interact with your television using your phone. It literally
becomes a “second-screen” companion to your TV. You can enjoy what you're
watching while you get more immersive details about your favorite shows, music,
games, and sports. Even at its early phase the app does a wonderful job in
giving users a fresh and innovative experience. It's interactive entertainment
at your fingertips.
Xbox SmartGlass is free! Users who download the app are also
given access to an all exclusive content. More extra gaming goodies and video
gems. An all new exhilarating entertainment experience is on its way to your
mobile phone!
However, the app is still restricted in terms of the devices
it can support. Its android release is only compatible with smartphones that
have 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich or above with WVGA screen resolutions or higher.
Those who are still using low-resolution android phones won't be able to
install the software. Microsoft also promises to release the app “soon” for
iPhone and iPad users. Until further updates, iOS and older android users will
have to wait for new developments.
