Ultrabook sales cause boom in premium laptop sales
A research report from The NPD Group reveals that, despite a
slightly shrinking market overall, ultrabooks have helped to boost sales of
higher-end laptops. Partially due to their higher pricing and premium
feature-set, ultrabooks have successfully accounted for 11 percent of all US PC
and laptop sales throughout 2012.

The Future of Computer Technologies
Microsoft
has been doing research since 2007 to find another prospective workshop for the
evolution of Human-Machine Interfaces (HMI). They recently published an
impressive document on what these interfaces will be like in the year 2020. The
report concludes that by 2020, speech and gestures will play a crucial role in
our relationship with machines. Nerve impulses will begin to be used to control
computers, especially for the disabled. The report also predicts that
ubiquitous connectivity will enable systems to act as substitutes for human
memory, and when will be combined with the increased processing power; we will
begin to supplement human reasoning. Traceability of our movements and actions
will cease to accelerate and instead will expand, raising serious issues of
confidentiality. In the medical field, the boundary between the human and the
computer, via implanted medical devices, will begin to fade.

One in three people are doing work on laptops and tablets in bed, with a
growing number checking emails and browsing the Internet without
dragging themselves out from under the covers, a new study has found.
A survey of 1,000 people in the UK found 35 percent of people or their spouses worked in bed.
Astonishingly
5 percent of those who admitted they worked in bed claimed they did so
for an average two hours a day, the 'Daily Mail' reported.
The
trend seems to have begun in the US, where a survey in New York found
eight out of ten young professionals regularly work from their bed.
