Children eager to track Santa Claus on his annual yuletide journey to homes across the world can download a new mobile app from the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD).
The new app for Windows 8, called NORAD Tracks Santa, is part of a 57-year-long holiday tradition at NORAD of tracking Santa. It will allow children to keep up with him on their mobile devices and joins similar apps for iOS, Android and web apps.

For me, climate change is a serious issue. No, I'm not referring to the debate over global warming. My concerns are much simpler. I'm constantly checking the weather for the hours and days ahead because deciding to hike on a rainy day or neglecting to dress warmly can put a damper on a vacation.During recent travels, I tried several free weather apps for the iPhone and Android phones. (Versions for tablet computers also are available, but I didn't test those extensively.)

I didn't try to determine which is more accurate at predicting the weather. They are all generally good, but not error-free. Rather, I evaluated each based on features and ease of use.

The ones I tested operate similarly on iPhones and Android phones, though there are some differences in how information gets presented or accessed. Here's a look at three apps I recommend

Trying to get fit or lose weight but lacking the motivation and willpower? A new app that acts like a digital personal coach monitors fitness, activity, sleep and diet and provides tips for health and productivity.
The app called Larklife gathers data via a wristband and provides personalized advice which is displayed on the smartphone app. It can deduct if the wearer is not getting enough sleep and how sedentary they are, according to its creators.
"In the background it's as if you had your own personal fitness trainer, productivity coach and sleep coach all working together to give you the easiest way to improve at this moment," said Julia Hu, CEO and co-founder of the Mountain View, California-based company Lark.

Google updates iOS Search app with enhanced voice capabilities: Hands-on

Google is often referred to as the search giant and for good reason. The company is always experimenting with its search features to deliver the most accurate and relevant results, both on the web and through its apps. 

Speaking of relevant and accurate results, the latest update to the Google Search app for iOS brings improved voice recognition capabilities, which until now was appreciated only on its Android counterpart. 

The voice search inherits features from Google Now including the look, sounds and a voice assistant that reads the query results back to you, which are all definitely welcome additions. So, is the refreshed voice search app a threat to Apple's native Siri? We find out.

Google had recently announced Nexus 4 smartphone and new Android 4.2 OS. The company is aptly following up with an updated Google Search app for Android 4.1 Jelly Bean users. This new update incorporates several features which were mentioned in Android 4.2 announcement made by the company.

Download MS Office for iOS and Android to be released in March 2013

Sources close to Microsoft have hinted at the possibility of launching Microsoft Office softwarefor both iOS and Android powered devices. The report was confirmed by the company’s Product Manager Petr Bobek. He stated that Office 2013 will be released by March next year for iOS and Android platform.
This has been one of the long standing demands from Android and iOS users. They will now just have to wait a few more months to see MS office in their handheld devices. He also added that the company will be releasing native apps for its Windows 8 operating system also by March 2013.
